One Nation United Under God
Why We Do What We Do

Overview

The convictions in short form.

The tree grows in the direction of its first leaning.

Terik proverb

We do this work for reasons older than the Foundation. We are one people. We were given a country to keep. We owe the coming generations a nation stronger than the one we inherited. Everything below is a face of that conviction.

What we believe

  1. 01

We are one nation of many voices

Fifteen natural communities is not a weakness. It is the shape of our strength. We refuse the flattening that has cost other peoples their memory.

  2. 02

    The land is a trust

It was not given to us to sell. It was given to us to keep, and to hand on. A steward does not sell the well.

  3. 03

Households are the unit of prosperity

Not projects, not headlines, not a single hero. Households. If the median household is stronger this year than last, we have done our work.

  4. 04

The elders know what the numbers cannot

Data serves wisdom, and never the other way around. We measure everything, but we bow to the elders on what to do about it.

  5. 05

Language is a memory in motion

When it is silent, we are shorter than we know. We keep it in the classroom, in the radio, in the book, and in the child's mouth.

  6. 06

A foundation without transparency is a rumour

The books are open, the trustees are named, the affiliations are declared, the failures are reported. Anything less is a fraud on the covenant.
