Laikipia is the plateau county. Kalenjin families settled here across a hundred years, moving out of the Rift ridges into the open grasslands of Rumuruti, Ol Moran, and Sipili. The Foundation counts many of its constituents in these settlement wards.
It is a working landscape of wheat, cattle, and conservancy country. The Kalenjin households of Laikipia often live side by side with Pokot, Turkana, Samburu, Meru, and Kikuyu neighbours, and much of the community's life here is spent building peace across those lines.
Foundation work in Laikipia concentrates on peace, education, and land security for Kalenjin settler communities, and on shared water and pasture arrangements with neighbouring peoples.
Land security
Support for settler community trusts and title processes.
Peace across neighbours
Elder council work with Pokot, Samburu, and other neighbours on shared water and pasture.
Schools of the plateau
Bursaries and library support in Ol Moran, Sipili, and Rumuruti.
