Nandi County is the ancestral country of the Nandi people, one of the largest Kalenjin communities, and of the Terik in the south. Kapsabet, Nandi Hills, and Mosoriot are the towns that carry the community's public life.

The county is the second great tea country of the Kalenjin nation, sitting alongside Kericho. It is also one of the deepest sources of Kenyan athletics, and the schools and training camps of Kaptumo, Kaiboi, and Kilibwoni have shaped generations of world champions.

The Foundation works in Nandi with the Nandi Council of Elders, cooperative unions, and secondary schools on heritage, bursaries, and land questions along the tea belt.
