The Kalenjin presence in Bungoma is anchored by the Sabaot of Mount Elgon, whose wards lie along the western slopes of the mountain around Cheptais, Kopsiro, and Kapsokwony.
This is one of the more sensitive frontiers of the Kalenjin nation, where the community has walked through hard seasons of displacement and conflict. Peace, land, and rebuilding are the daily work of the elders here.
The Foundation works with the Sabaot Council of Elders, with women's groups, and with schools on land security, reconciliation, and the education of children on the mountain.
