Who We Are

Our Partners

The Foundation keeps company with those who share the covenant.

Two hands wash each other clean.

Nandi, on partnership

The work we do is too large for one household to carry, and too particular to hand to a stranger. We work in coalition. Our partners fall into four rings.

Four rings

  1. 01

    Government

We work with the national government of Kenya, with the county governments of the Rift Valley, and with the offices of the elders that customary law still recognises. We treat public office with the respect it is owed and the scrutiny it earns.

  2. 02

    Faith

Kalenjin life is deeply Christian, with older traditions alive underneath. We partner with churches of every confession found among our people, and with the traditional custodians of shrines and forests. We do not proselytise for any of them.

  3. 03

    Academic

We work with universities in Kenya and abroad on research we can act on. Our standing partnerships include institutions in Eldoret, Nairobi, Uppsala, and Cambridge, with more forming.

  4. 04

    Diaspora

Kalenjin men and women live in every part of the world. Our chapters in North America, the United Kingdom, the Gulf, and Southern Africa are partners in giving, learning, and speaking. They are a room of our own house held open elsewhere.
