The Sengwer are a forest people of the Cherangany hills, custodians of one of the most important water towers in East Africa.
Their long struggle to be recognised as an indigenous forest community and to remain on their ancestral land is a matter of continuing national and international attention.
The Foundation stands with the Sengwer in the work of secure tenure, forest stewardship, and the honouring of their record.
